Patsy Kensit has today signed a long-term contract to join ITV1’s award-winning soap Emmerdale.

Patsy will play wealthy new character Sadie King - a sexy, powerful and cunning woman who knows what she wants and makes sure she gets it.

The character will make a dramatic entrance in the spring and her stunning looks and ruthless nature are set to add a touch of class to the Yorkshire Dales. Viewers will see her on-screen as Sadie for the first time in May.

Patsy, 35, has been acting since the age of three and has appeared in over 40 films during her career. International filmgoers first became aware of the British child actress in 1976 when she shared the spotlight with Elizabeth Taylor and Ava Garner in The Blue Bird. Perhaps best known for playing Mel Gibson’s leading lady in Lethal Weapon 2 (1989), Patsy is looking forward to the challenge that Emmerdale will bring.

Patsy says “I can’t wait to get started on Emmerdale and I’ve become an avid viewer! I am a bit of a country girl at heart and it is so exciting to be joining, especially at a time when the show is so strong. The prospect of being watched by over 10 million viewers every night is intimidating but I can’t wait to get stuck in.”

Series Producer, Steve Frost says, ”We’re very excited to have Patsy on board and looking forward to introducing such a great character to the show. Sadie will be the envy of women and the desire of men.”

Emmerdale newcomer Patsy Kensit has big plans for the Dales.

The stunning actress will stamp her mark on the village from the moment she takes on the role of vixen Sadie King.

Sadie is already being touted as a hybrid of Kim Tate and Lady Tara. She is a wealthy woman, who moves to Emmerdale with her husband and his family - but is more interested in extramarital activities than being a good wife.

And Patsy - whose marriages to Liam Gallagher and Jim Kerr kept the tabloids busy - is already desperate to start filming as she has become a Dales devotee.

She says, "I can't wait to get stuck in. I've become an avid viewer of Emmerdale.

"I'm a bit of a country girl at heart, and it's so exciting to be joining."

And Emmerdale insiders are already very excited about the prospects for sexy Sadie.

One whispers, "Patsy will certainly stir things up in the village. She makes herself known to the men very quickly and once she's set her sights on a man she won't rest until she's got him."

Meet Wool-Patsy Kensit

EMMERDALE'S sexy new star Patsy Kensit will make a dramatic entrance to the show next month - in a huge chopper.

The 36-year-old actress - who plays the soap's new superbitch Sadie King - will arrive by helicopter wearing a glam fur coat.

Speaking on the set of the Yorkshire show after filming her opening scenes, the star admitted she was nervous but excited about her new role.

"It's been like starting a new school," she said. "Any job is nerve
wracking at first but as soon as I received my first scripts I've just been beside myself with excitement.

"The cast have been incredibly welcoming and Sadie is going to be so much fun to play."

Patsy plays the scheming wife of wealthy businessman Jimmy King (Nick Miles) and her first scenes will be screened on May 10.

A show spokesman: "She is a seductive, powerful and manipulative woman who knows what she wants and makes sure she gets it."

Producers hope her character will follow in the footsteps of the soap's last superbitch, Kim Tate.

Patsy began her acting career in a Birds Eye ad at the age of five but her most famous role came as Mel Gibson's love interest in the movie Lethal Weapon 2.

As a former prostitute and convicted killer, Charity has done more bird than a neck-wringer on a Bernard Matthews turkey farm. While the prison service has failed to reform the gold-digging harlot, surely her cunning adversary Sadie King will.

If it's true that blondes have more fun, then Sadistic Sadie must be taking great delight in collecting enough gossip to drop another bombshell on Charity's plan to bag herself millionaire pensioner Tom King.

First, she's humiliated when her colourful past is brought up at a posh friends and family dinner party. Then, after yet another bust-up, Charity spectacularly quits her job by trashing the office and shredding Tom's diary.

Well, at 65 and with Charity clinging on to him, it's not as if he has a future to look forward to...

BOTH Sadie and Charity are desperate to be queen of the King family, and superbitch Sadie now has some dirt on Charity that could put her ahead of the game.

She discovers her arch-rival’s darkest secrets and is quick to tell Tom’s conservative friends that Charity used to be a prostitute.

"Sadie acquires some interesting information from Nicola," says Patsy Kensit, who plays Sadie. "Nicola wins a cleaning contract with the Kings and as the two women celebrate, Nicola mentions what Charity used to do for a living."

Sadie is fascinated and pumps Eric Pollard for even more goss on Charity.

"She confronts Charity and asks her if Tom will approve of her history," says Patsy.

She soon gets a chance to find out as Tom invites Charity to a dinner party for some posh friends.

When Charity arrives she finds that Sadie has briefed all the guests on her wild days and the talk keeps returning to her seedy past life.

"Charity goes ballistic," says Patsy. "Tom is furious with her for letting him down and she leaves in disgrace."

Then, at work the next day, Charity clashes with Sadie and scrawls ‘I Quit’ in lipstick on the office mirror and throws paperwork around.

Tom is angry when he walks into erupting chaos.

"But it doesn’t end as Sadie planned," says Patsy. "Tom tells Charity the past is past.

"He asks her out for dinner. Charity happily accepts as Sadie fumes in the background."
