| The Princess Cruises 45,000grt Royal Princess was state of the art for her day. She was named by Princess Diana in 1984 and continued in the Princess fleet until 2005, retaining her P&O name on the sides unlike the rest of the fleet which lost theirs after the 2003 takeover of P&O by Carnival and they separated the fleets. On the 26th May 2005 she sailed to Bremerhaven to be converted to Artemis, to sail under P&O. Her naming ceremony, the first at sea for a British ship was to be held off Cowes, Isle of Wight, on the 16th June. However, her scheduled arrival was the 13th. It was very tight, arriving around 3am on the 16th. The weather was misty with drizzle but it was a success and she is currently sailing from the UK and doing world cruises.. The following pictures are of the lovely ship. The first is of her in Southampton on the 3rd August 2001. The 2nd has Aurora to the far left.
